Daisy Walker of Monaghan Phoenix has been named on the Irish mixed 4x400m relay team for the World U20 Championships
The championships in Lima, Peru take place from August 27th to August 31st. The mixed 4x400m relay gets underway day one August 27.
Indeed, Walker is included on the 4x400 mixed relay team with Niamh Murray (Bray Runners), Amy Jo Kierans (Oriel AC); David Davitt (Clonliffe Harriers), Sean Doggett (Athenry AC); Conor Kelly (Derry Track), Adam Courtney (Ballymena and Antrim), and Stephen Mannion (South Galway AC).
European U20 long jump champion, Elizabeth Ndudi (Dundrum South Dublin), will return to the Irish singlet following her superb success in Jerusalem last year. Where, she won Ireland’s first field event gold medal in the 53-year history of the European U20 Championships.
Oisin Joyce (Lake District AC) heads to Peru in superb javelin form. Joyce posted a personal best of 73.72m back in June which places him fourth on the Irish all-time list.
Ireland are well represented across the sprint events with Tallaght’s Sean Aigboboh set to take his place in the 100m. Whereas, Sean Doggett (Athenry AC) will look to use his recent European senior championships experience in the 400m and relay.
2022 European U18 silver medallist, Fintan Dewhirst (Tir Chonaill AC), will lead Ireland out in the 400m hurdles alongside David Davitt (Clonliffee Harriers). Both athletes also selected on relay teams.
Indeed, Lughaidh Mallon (Lagan Valley AC) and Jonas Stafford* (UCD AC) look set to toe the line in the 1500m and 3000m respectively.
