Monaghan GAA will have a new manager on the side-line for 2025 after Vinny Corey stepped down on Monday evening.
The former player and captain had completed two-years as manager; while a review was expected after that time, it was believed he would remain on for a third year.
In a statement, the county board thanked Vinny for his "unwavering service over the last 22 years; 18 as a player, two as a selector and two years as the helm as senior manager."
They are thankful for his outstanding support and commitment to Monaghan GAA and fully respect his decision to step down.
Vinny's first year in charge saw Monaghan retain their Division 1 status for a 10th consecutive year; and contest an All-Ireland semi-final against the eventual winners Dublin.
This season however was a more difficult one with a number of players retiring/removing themselves from the panel. Whereas, injuries also played a key part in the strength of the panel.
The county was relegated from Division 1, while crashing out to Cavan in the preliminary round of the Ulster championship.
There was a brief revival in the All-Ireland series with a draw against Louth and a win over Meath. That was enough to secure a preliminary quarter-final meeting with Galway, which ended in defeat in Salthill.
Monaghan GAA would like to express its sincere appreciation to Vinny for his unwavering service to Monghan GAA over the last 22 years, 18 as a player, 2 as a selector and 2 years at the helm as Senior Manager.
We are very thankful for Vinny’s outstanding support and commitment to Monaghan GAA over the years and appreciate his contributions made as player, selector & Manager.
Monaghan GAA fully respects Vinny's decision to step down and wishes him continued success in future endeavours.
