Tyrone lifted the Anglo Celt cup beating Monaghan 16 points to 15 victory in Croke Park.
Tyrone led 11 points to six at half-time and held off a second-half Monaghan resurgence winning 16 points to 15.
The sides were level at three points each after 15 minutes with Killian Lavelle, Conor McManus and Jack McCarron on target for Monaghan. Tyrone registered three of the next four scores to lead six to four at the first water break.
The same margin separated the teams on 25 minutes. A brace of points from Tyrone was sandwiched by points from Rory Beggan and Conor McCarthy.
Tyrone stretched the margin to five points at half-time thanks to a score each from Mattie Donnelly, Mark Bradley and Darren McCurry.
Monaghan were much sharper after the restart, points from Conor McCarthy and Rory Beggan reduced the margin to three points on 37 minutes. Conor McKenna replied with a Tyrone point 60 seconds later, but the Red Hand County subsequently went 12 minutes without scoring.
Seamus McEnaney’s side amassed four points during this period leaving just a point between them at the second water break. Tyrone restored a three-point cushion on 62 minutes. Points from Conor Boyle and Kieran Duffy made it a one-point game with five minutes remaining.
Finally Darren McCurry and Conor McManus subsequently traded a point each leaving the minimum margin heading into injury time. However Monaghan couldn’t find an equaliser as the Farney men remain without an Ulster senior football title since 2015.
