Castlerahan claimed their first win of the Cavan senior football championship beating Lavey 1-14 to 0-12 at Ramor.
The early stages were evenly contests with the sides trading three points each inside the opening 23 minutes.
James Sheridan registered two points for Lavey while Finn Buckley was also on target. Oisin O’Connell, Ciaran Caldwell and Stephen Cooney were on target for Castlerahan.
60 seconds later, Castlerahan moved three points clear; David Wright found the net making it 1-3 to 0-3.
The sides traded a point each before two pointed frees by Caldwell gave Castlerahan a five-point lead at half-time; 1-6 to 0-4.
Caldwell pushed Castlerahan seven points clear midway through the second half. Shane Tierney brought it back to a six-point game on 47 minutes.
Karl Cosgrove restored Castlerahan’s seven-point cushion two minutes from time. Aaron McCabe and James McBreen replied with a score each for Lavey but Castlerahan held on for a five-point win.
