Sky have announced they’ve ended their broadcast agreement with the GAA by mutual agreement.
The shortened GAA season has impacted on the games which Sky Sports were able to broadcast.
In a statement released by Sky Ireland, MD JD Buckley said:
“Despite our participation in the broadcast rights bidding process, lengthy negotiations and a strong willingness on both sides to continue our partnership, Sky and the GAA have been unable to reach a renewal agreement.
A factor in this decision has been the new shortened GAA season and its knock-on impact on the number of games Sky Sports wanted to broadcast”.
It is understood that Sky Sports wanted to broadcast a number of national league games as part of their new package.
