The club championship scene is certainly taking shape across the region. In Cavan the final round of games in the group stages this coming weekend will decide the 8 teams that will contest the quarter finals with the bottom 4 going into the relegation play-offs. Crosserlough, Mullahoran and Ramor united are the only teams so far to have secured their place in the knock out stages while the defending champions Gowna currently find themselves sitting in 8th place and will need a result against Killygarry who are just above them to ensure they can continue their defence of the title. It has been 2 draws for the 2023 champions one against Kingscourt in the opening round while they came from been 5 points down against Cavan Gaels last weekend to secure a share of the spoils. All round 4 fixtures in the senior championship in Cavan throw in this Sunday at 2:30.
In Monaghan the senior championship returns this coming weekend following a break after round 3. Clontibret are the only team to have secured their place in the knock out stages as they have had 3 wins from 3 outings in Group 2. Killanny are currently second behind them with 2 wins from 3 outings and should they secure a result against Inniskeen who have 1 draw and 1 loss so far will progress to the quarter finals. 3rd placed Latton who have also 1 point on the board take on Donaghmoyne who prop up the table on no points. Group 1 will see Scotstown the defending champions who are top of the table taking on 2nd placed Corduff, with the winner set to secure a knock out spot. The other fixture in that group in Round 4 will see Cremartin taking on Aughnamullen with both sides currently occupying the relegation spots.
There was one re-scheduled fixture in Group 2 of the intermediate championship on Saturday past with Carrickmacross defeating Emyvale to move to 2nd in the group table behind Castleblayney.
