Scotstown maintained their quest for back-to-back Monaghan SFC titles with a nine-point victory over Iniskeen at St Tiernach’s Park in Clones today.
Scotstown led 0-11 to 0-5 at the half-time break before a strong second-half display saw the defending champions win 2-16 to 1-10.
Scotstown led 0-7 to 0-1 at the first water break before a point each from Darren Hughes and Michael McCarville stretched their lead to eight points on 20 minutes.
Iniskeen responded impressively, hitting four points on the trot before Scotstown restored their six-point cushion at the half-time break.
Scotstown dominated the third quarter and a goal each from Matthew Maguire and Shane Carey helped them to a 15-point lead on 38 minutes.
Oisin McConville’s men subsequently hit 1-2 without reply leaving ten points between them at the second water break with Donal Meegan scoring their first goal on 44 minutes.
Iniskeen were reduced to 14 men with five minutes left when Andrew Woods received a second yellow card as they suffered a nine-point defeat in the end.
