Scotstown to begin senior title defence against Ballybay

Senior league champions Inniskeen will face Clontibret in the opening round

The draws for the Monaghan club championship took place last night (Tuesday) at the monthly county board meeting. In the senior competition, Scotstown the defending champions have been drawn in a group along with Ballybay, Aughnamullen, Corduff and Cremartin. The League champions and last years runners up Inniskeen are joined by Killanny, Latton, Clontibret and Donaghmoyne in Group 2. Tyholland, Blackhill, Magheracloone, Doohamlet and Clones make up Group 1 in the intermediate championship. Emyvale, Truagh, Carrickmacross, Monaghan Harps and Castleblayney are in Group 2. The Junior championship consists of Eire Og, Scotstown, Sean Mc Dermotts, Aghabog and Drumhowan in Group 1. Rockcorry, Currin, Killeevan, Oram and Toome make up group 2. The opening round of fixtures in the championship are scheduled to throw in on the week ending the 15th of August.

In the hurling championship the 2023 senior champions Inniskeen will face the junior winners Truagh in the opening round of the competition. The other fixtures will see Castleblayney traveling to Clontibret and Carrickmacross hosting Monaghan Harps. The top 4 teams will go into the senior semi finals with the bottom 2 been joined by Latton in the Junior.
