Scotstown claimed their first win of the 2023 Monaghan senior football championship beating Magheracloone 4-19 to 0-11 at Pairc Mhuire.
The hosts led 1-3 to 0-3 on 14 minutes, James Hamill’s goal separating the sides. Magheracloone’s Kian Duffy made it a two-point game on 25 minutes.
Scotstown subsequently raised the intensity. Points from Rory Beggan (two) and Jack McCarron saw them lead 1-8 to 0-6 at half-time.
McCarron’s goal six minutes into the second half opened up a ten-point gap. Eight minutes later< Ryan Malley added another and suddenly it was a 14-point game.
Jason Carey registered Scotstown’s fourth goal nine minutes from time as the hosts cruised to a 19-point victory.
