The defending champions have two wins from as many games.

Scotstown maintained their perfect start to the Monaghan SFC with a 1-12 to 0-9 victory away to Aughnamullen in round two.

The game started slowly; Scotstown’s Micheal McCarville eventually broke the deadlock ten minutes in with a fine score from 35 metres out.

Scotstown got off to a flying start. Scores from Shane Carey (two), Michael McCarville and Jack McCarron helped them lead 0-4 to no score inside 15 minutes.

Two minutes later, Scotstown moved seven points clear when Jack McCarron found the net. McCarron collected a long ball before rounding goalkeeper Thomas Marron and finishing to the net.

Micheal Bannigan eventually got Aughnamullen off the mark on 23 minutes. Scotstown replied with four successive scores and led 1-8 to 0-1 at half-time.

Aughnamullen, aided by a strong breeze, started the second half impressively. The hosts landed six scores on the trot.
