Scotstown continued their 100% record in the Greenfield Foods Monaghan Senior with a 2-15 to seven points win over Carrickmacross Emmets.
Scotstown led by nine points to four at the interval before an excellent second-half display saw them finish with 14 points to spare. Conor McCarthy accounted for both of goals, one of which came from the penalty spot.
Elsewhere, Truagh got off the mark in the Championship with an emphatic 4-17 to six points win over Latton O’Rahilly’s.
Truagh laid a solid foundation in the first half as a goal from Christopher McKenna helped them to a seven point cushion at the break leading by 1-8 to four points.
11 minutes into the second half McKenna doubled his goal tally finding the net from the penalty spot before Adam Treanor struck for a brace of his own as Laurence Strain’s side got their first points of the campaign.
