Ryan O’Toole remain cool and composed as he fired Monaghan past Tyrone and into the Ulster semi-final.
O’Toole charged up field late into injury time, firing the ball past Niall Morgan to seal a 2-17 to 1-18 victory in Healy Park.
“The game is in the melting pot” explained O’Toole of what was in his mid as he charged forward. We were “trying to put Tyrone away and they kept having answers for us”.
“You kept thinking in your mind, will they have an answer for us” explained O’Toole.
“I just thought I’ll go up and see what happens, good runs from Kieran Duffy and Karl O’Connell got me through”.
“I said” to myself, “this is it, this is our moment. I was just saying to myself get back in the full-back line and defend this”.

Monaghan produced an excellent second-half performance to seal victory and an ulster semi-final place, having trailed by six at half-time.
“We just said, every time Tyrone has beaten us, we’ve had doubts” revealed O’Toole of the half-time team talk.
“We can’t stand back and be by-standers, because they will beat us” explained O’Toole. “It wasn’t about going out to steam roll them, it was just bring them back to us”.
Monaghan will now face Derry in the Ulster semi-final on Saturday April 29th, with the winner advancing to the Ulster final.
