Cavan Gaels sit on top of the Cavan senior football championship table and have the distinction of being the only side with a perfect record.
Gaels have posted four victories from as many games and their impressive run continued after holding off a late rally from Lacken to win 3-10 to 1-15.
Killygarry occupy second place and are the only other side with an unbeaten record having drawn with defending champions Ramor United.
The game ended 2-5 to 0-11 as Martin Reilly’s men scored two goals for Jodie Devine’s men. Ramor United still reached the last eight having finished in fifth place.
Elsewhere, Crosserlough pulled off a third place finish on six points following a convincing victory over Laragh United.
The 2020 champions were five points clear at half-time before a dominant second-half display saw them win 3-24 to 1-6 and send Laragh United into the relegation semi-finals.
Mullahoran tasted victory for the third time after surviving a late scare against Lavey. Mullahoran eventually won 0-11 to 0-10 meaning Lavey are headed for the relegation semi-finals.
Meanwhile, a strong first half proved decisive as Kingscourt Stars defeated Gowna by the smallest of margins.
Kingscourt won 2-12 to 1-14 leaving both sides on three points with Owen Lennon’s men finishing in seventh place by virtue of a superior head-to-head record.
The other game was a dead rubber where Ballinagh defeated Butlersbridge 3-17 to 1-14. The result sees Ballinagh get off the mark while Butlersbridge are rooted to the bottom of the table.
