Monaghan goalkeeper Rory Beggan will not be signing for the Carolina Panthers after trying out as a kicker for the club.
Beggan trained at the NFC South Franchise on Saturday. However, after attempting numerous field goals and speaking to local media, he was not offered a contract.
However, the Scotstown native’s hopes of playing NFL during the forthcoming season are not over yet.
Beggan still has time on his side to secure a contract elsewhere. The new season begins in just under four month's time.
Meanwhile, it's unclear if the Monaghan shotstopper will be available for the opening round of the All-Ireland series. The Farney men face Kerry on Saturday, May 18th.
Elsewhere, Down's Charlie Smith and Derry's Jude McAtamney signed for the New Orleans Saints. Wicklow’s Mark Jackson received a trial with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
