Rory Beggan’s superb last-gasp pointed free saw Scotstown score a dramatic Ulster club SFC victory over Kilcoo at Newry.
Kilcoo were four points clear midway through the second-half before a strong finish saw Scotstown win 0-12 to 1-8 victory.
The game was tense throughout. The teams traded two points each inside the opening 16 minutes; Shane and Jason Carey on target for the Monaghan champions.
Aaron Morgan gave Kilcoo a two-point cushion eight minutes later. Points from Conor McCarthy and Shane Carey saw parity restored by half-time, four points apiece.
Kilcoo opened up a four-point gap ten minutes into the second half. Paul Devlin with a penalty goal for the Down champions. Points from Shealan Johnsotn and Anthony Morgan moving Kilcoo clear.
Scotstown were resilient however and replied with four successive scores. Including two from Jack McCarron and one from Beggan. Jason Carey making it a level game on the hour mark.
Devlin and Kieran Hughes subsequently traded points before Beggan sealed victory in dramatic fashion right at the death.
2022 All-Ireland champions Kilcoo have now exited the Ulster championship. Scotstown can look forward to a semi-final meeting with Tyrone champions Trillick.
