Dramatic four goal game opens Cavan quarter-final series

Laragh United and Ramor United will have to meet again after finishing their Cavan SFC quarter-final in a draw.

Laragh exploded into action, however it was second-half ding dong which saw the game finish Ramor 1-12 Larargh 3-6.

Just three minutes where on the clock when Fergal McKenna got the game’s opening score with a goal! Three minutes later and Laragh where in for their second goal through Jack McKenna.

A Paul Smyth free made it 2-1 to no score. Ramor not helped by four wides in the opening 12 minutes.

An Ado Cole mark on 17 minutes finally opened Ramor’s account. Laragh captain Fergal McKenna responding two minutes later from play.

However, Ramor found their feet with four point’s in-a-row. Mark Magee and Cathal Maguire both scoring from play. While, two Jack Brady frees made it a three point game.

Padraig O’Reilly sent over the last score of the half as Laragh United led 2-3 to five points at half-time.

After the restart Ramor came out the strongest. Jack Brady’s third free bringing it back to three points.

Star man Ado Cole rattled in a goal on 40 minutes to level the sides. Paul Smith responded expertly with a point immediately.

The sides exchanged points over the next four minutes. Mathew Smith and a Jack Brady free for Ramor, either side of points from Ciaran Cooney and Paul Smyth.

Ramor looked in the driving seat heading down the home straight. Three points in a row including two Brady frees and Ado Cole from play saw Ramor lead by two with five minutes to play.

However, drama remained. Lee Reilly fisted a dropping ball from Ramor keeper Liam Brady’s grasp into the net as Laragh regained the lead.

However, Jack Brady confirmed his man-of-the-match display with an equaliser a minute into injury time.

The game finished out 1-12 to 3-6 with a replay now required.
