New Westmeath manager Dermot McCabe role has Cavan games development manager has come into question.
McCabe was announced as Dessie Dolan’s successor as Westmeath senior football manager mid-week. However, a potential conflict of interest has arisen as McCabe is Cavan games development manager.
Cavan as set to meet Westmeath in the 2025 Allianz League division two campaign.
Northern Sound Sport understands the matter was discussed at Thursday’s meeting of the Cavan management committee.
When questioned by Northern Sound Sport, Cavan GAA said; “Cavan County Board has no comment in this matter at this time”.
Westmeath GAA is delighted to announce the appointment of Dermot McCabe as the new senior football manager.
Westmeath GAA is also pleased to confirm that Mark McHugh will join Dermot as his main coach.

During his playing career, McCabe won Ulster senior and U21 medals with Cavan and has held the role of games development manager in Cavan since 2013.
