Manager Michael Graham was taking the win over Tyrone in context but is hoping they may get a semi final spot
What is rare is sweet and Cavan certainly had one of those occassions on Tuesday night when they overcame All Ireland champions Tyrone by 1-17 to 0-05 points in Round 2 of the Bank of Ireland Dr. Mc Kenna cup in Kingspan Breffni. Context is everything with this been the Red hand counties first outing of 2022 and the majority of the panel had just returned from a celebratory trip to Florida on the back of their All Ireland success in 2021. However it is a competition that they do take seriously having lifted the cup in 8 of the last 9 years. Donegal were winners in 2018 while it was not played for in 2021 due to the Covid pandemic. It was Cavan's 2nd outing in the competition after their loss to Armagh on the opening night and they could yet reach the semi final stages should Tyrone regroup and account for the Orchard county in the final round game on Saturday. The Breffni men's superior score difference an advantage to them if all 3 teams finish on 2 points. After last nights result and performance, our regular GAA correspondent Damien Donohoe spoke to Cavan manager Michael Graham
