Sarah Healy and Sophie O'Sullivan narrowly missed out on automatic qualification for the women's 1500m semi-finals at the Paris Olympics.
O’Sullivan set a new personal best time of 4:00.23 which saw her finish seventh in her heat.
Healy also came seventh in her heat and fell over the line in a time of 4:02.91. Only the top six qualified automatically.
Both Healy and O’Sullivan will get another chance in the 1500 metre repechage at 11.45 am tomorrow Irish time.
Elsewhere, Sharlene Mawdsley and Sophie Becker have missed out on the 400 metre semi-finals.
Mawdsley posted a third-place finish in her repechage heat in a time of 51.18; Becker’s time of 51.28 saw her finish second in her heat.
