The opening round of fixtures in the All-Ireland Series have been confirmed following the completion of the Connacht and Munster finals at the weekend.
Monaghan will be the first of the teams from the region in action on Saturday May 18th; when they face the Munster champions Kerry in Fitzgerald Stadium at 3pm.
Later that evening at 5pm, Cavan make the trip to Castlebar to face the Connacht runner-up Mayo.
It’s the first time the Breffni County have taken part in the All-Ireland series since its introduction in its current format.
Regular GAA commentator Damien Donohoe remarked that the Cavan panel would have targeted getting back into this championship.
Other fixtures on that day will see Galway going up against Derry in Pearse Stadium while Clare host Cork.
