Cavan Gaels booked their place in the Cavan SFC semi-finals after a comfortable four point win over Mullahoran.
Gaels controlled the game for the majority leading 1-6 to four points at half-time. However, Mullahoran staged a massive comeback.
Ben Tully and Paul O’Connor putting Gaels into an early lead. Enda Reilly levelled the game on 10 minutes with two points.
Jack Tully and Ciaran Flynn restoring Gaels two point lead three minutes later. Gavin Brady responded for Mullahoran before Paul O’Connor kicked his second point of the day. Gales leading five points to three on 22 minutes.
O’Connor stared for Gaels scoring his sixth point of the game on 24 minutes. Luke Molloy fisted the ball to the net after Paul O’Connor’s created the chance. An Enda Brady free cut the lead to five points as the Gaels led 1-6 to four points at half-time.
Five points from Enda Reilly (4 frees) had the sides level with seven minutes remaining. Gaels failing to score for 23 second-half minutes!
A Luke Molloy free finally turning the Gaels scoreboard with five minutes remaining. The drama was just beginning. Tom Harten and Declan Meehan exchanged points as the sides went toe-to-toe. Enda Reilly levelled the game in the second minute of injury.
However, up stepped Luke Molloy to find the net after a ball into the square and give Cavan Gaels a three point advantage.
Reilly responded with a point five minutes into injury time, but that was it as Cavan Gaels won out 2-8 to 12 points.
