Mullahoran opened their Cavan senior football championship with an impressive three point win over Cavan Gaels.
A game that swung from box-to-box saw Gaels finish with 14-men in a game that went all the way to final moment.
Cavan Gaels led four points to three after 17 minutes. Luke Molloy with two points and one each from Gearoid McKiernan and Jack Tully.
While Mullahoran scores came from Senan Sheils, Gavin Brady and Cormac O’Reilly. O’Reilly levelled the game on 24 minutes.
Comrac McKeogh put Mullahoran one point ahead five minutes before half-time. O’Reilly’s third point, a free had Mullahoran six point to four ahead at half-time.
Jack Tully send over Gaels first point of the second-half from the throw-in. However, the sides where level eight points at piece after 11 second-half minutes.
Mullahoran scores coming from Tom Harten, Gearoid McKiernan, Ray Lynch and Paul Graham (2). Whereas, Tully grabbed his second point of the half for Gaels.
The sides were level twice more with eight minutes remaining. Sheils and O’Reilly landing Mullahoran scores. Either side responses from Gearoid McKiernan and Ciaran Flynn for Gaels.
However, Mullahoran found a sprint in the home straight. Two from O’Reilly (1f) and an Enda Reilly point putting Mullahoran 13 points to 10 ahead with four minutes remaining.
Paul Graham pulled a point back for Gaels in the final minute. However, Enda Reilly cancelled it out.
Gaels went down to 14 men, when Daniel Graham saw red in injury time after a scuffle in the goalmouth, as Mullahoran claimed an important win. 14 points to 11.
