Lavey will now play Castlerahan in the quarter-finals of the Hotel Kilmore Cavan senior football championship after a 1-17 to 14 points win over Mullahoran.
Lavey dominated the opening stages leading by nine points to four at the break. Mullahoran later reduced the deficit to two points before a strong finish saw Barry McLoughlin’s men finished with six points to spare.
The South Cavan men still qualify for the last eight however after Lacken and Killygarry finished level at 2-7 to 13 points.
Lacken held a one-point advantage at the interval as a goal from Niall McKiernan saw them lead by 1-5 to seven points.
Eight minutes after the restart Micheal O’Rourke’s men were reduced to 14 men as Philip Moynagh saw red.
The Crowe Park men trailed by four points with eight minutes of normal time left before a second goal by Niall McKiernan helped them salvage a draw.
The stalemate resulted in both teams getting their first points of the campaign.
Other results saw Gowna beat Castlerahan 2-11 to 1-14, Crosserlough beat Ramor United 3-11 to 3-9, Kingscourt Stars beat Shercock 3-12 to 12 points and Cavan Gaels saw off Laragh United 2-14 to 13 points.
