Motorsport Ireland hosted their annual awards ceremony recently at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Santry Dublin. A number of competitors from the region were honoured on the day including Josh Moffett who claimed the National rally championship title, Derek Mackarel along with his father Andy were crowned the Irish forestry and National night navigation champions respectively, Monaghan motorclub were awarded a President’s award for their Youth encouragement, while Caroline Mc Guinness received an FAI volunteer pin for her work in marshalling at events. One of the major announcements seen Craig Rahill from Cavan named as the Billy Coleman young rally driver of the year.
Sean Mc Caffrey was in attendance at the event and he spoke to the Motorsport sporting manager Art Mc Carrick who remarked from the outset that the awards day is always a special and unique occasion
