His current club Currin plan on challenging it at a hearing.
The Monaghan Competitions Controls Committee have granted inter-county star Jack McCarron permission to transfer from Currin to Scotstown.
Currin have been made aware of the decision and plan on challenging it at a hearing.
It’s believed the move was permitted based on a county by-law which allow members to join a club that they’ve an association with through parentage or guardianship.
McCarron’s father Ray, a two-time Ulster winner with Monaghan, originally played for Scotstown where he won multiple county titles during the 1980s and 1990s.
Monaghan’s by-law 8.5 (b) states that;
“a member shall be regarded as having an “other relevant connection with a catchment area if it has been demonstrated to the satisfaction of the CCC that a strong family connection i.e. parents/guardians, exists between the player and the club with which the player wishes to become a member.”
Jack McCarron is due to line out for the Farney men in their Allianz football league division one opener against Armagh where throw in is at 6.30pm.
