Monaghan claimed their first ever Lory Meagher cup title after beating Lancashire 3-22 to 3-20 at Croke Park.
The Farney men led 1-12 to 2-8 at half-time, with Arthur Hughes’ men held on for a two-point victory.
Monaghan led 0-6 to 0-2 inside nine minutes. Lancashire’s Robin Spencer registered a goal 60 seconds later making it a one-point game.
Niall Arthur gave Monaghan a two-point buffer on 23 minutes, three minutes later Darragh Carroll’s goal edged Lancashire in front.
Thomas Hughes registered Monaghan’s opening goal on 32 minutes helping them to a one-point lead at the break.
Carroll scored his second goal within a minute of the restart giving Lancashire a two-point lead.13 minutes later, Niall Garland restored parity by finding the net.
Garland’s second goal gave Monaghan a two-point buffer 13 minutes from time and the Farney men held on to win by the same margin.
