Monaghan reached the Lory Meagher cup final after beating Longford 2-16 to 0-17 at the Monaghan GAA centre of excellence.
Monaghan led 2-8 to 0-11 at half-time. Ethan Flynn and Thomas Hughes with a goal each for the hosts.
However, Longford made it a one-point game ten minutes into the second-half. Niall Arthur restored Monaghan’s four-point cushion four minutes from time.
The hosts subsequently landed two of the last three scores resulting in a six-point victory in the end.
The result sees Monaghan top the Lory Meagher Cup group table and will play Lancashire in the final after they scored a 5-13 to 3-17 win over Warwickshire.
