Monaghan have named their first starting 15 of 2022 for their Bank of Ireland Dr. Mc Kenna cup opener with Derry on Friday night. A number of players are set to make their senior inter-county debuts with a number also a getting a first start in the pre-season competition. Rory Beggan will carry the number 1 jersey with Shane Hanratty getting a first start in the corner back position alongside Conor Boyle and Ryan Wylie. Karl O'Connell and Dessie Ward are in the half back line alongside another senior debutant in Daragh Mc Elearney from Drumhowan. Killian Lavelle and Niall Kearns are the midfield partnership with Fintan Kelly, Andrew Woods and Barry Mc Bennett in the half forward line.David Garland, Gary Mohan and Darren Hughes complete the starting 15.
