Ciaran Guinan’s last-gasp point saw Monaghan score a 2-17 to 0-22 victory over Armagh in their Allianz hurling league division 3A clash at the Athletic Grounds.
The sides were deadlocked at 1-8 to 0-11 on the half hour mark; Monaghan’s Fergal Rafter scoring a penalty goal inside 60 seconds.
Armagh subsequently gained the upper hand and five successive points saw the Orchard county lead 0-16 to 1-8 at half-time.
Monaghan fought back as Rafter restored parity nine minutes into the second half but eight minutes later, Armagh moved three points clear.
Monaghan substitute Ciaran Guinan made a decisive impact in the dying minutes. He scored the equalising goal one minute into injury time and the winning point right at the death.
