The Monaghan hurlers are now top of the Lory Meagher Cup table following a 2-18 to 1-16 win over Leitrim at Carrick-on-Shannon.
The opening 19 minutes were evenly contested before Mark Treanor’s goal on 29 minutes helped Monaghan lead 1-8 to 0-10 a half-time.
Parity was restored within nine minutes of the restart when Leitrim’s Joe Murray found the net before Conor Gernon replied with a goal for Monaghan on 63 minutes.
Monaghan were now five points clear with seven minutes remaining before the sides traded two points each resulting in a five-point victory for the Farney men.
