Monaghan must face Fermangh in the Lory Meagher cup quarter-final after Longford fought back to draw in Inniskeen
Joe O’Brien’s 23rd minute goal was decisive as Monaghan had built up a head of steam leading seven points to three before O’Brien’s goal.
Monaghan led by four at half-time 10 points to 1-3 however Joe O’Brien inspired a Longford comeback in the second half; he finished the day with 1-8, four of those from frees.
Longford progress to the Lory Meagher Cup semi-final after their heavy victory over Louth in round one. Monaghan will now face face Fermanagh in their quarter-final with the winners face Longford in the semi-final.
