Monaghan will face a relegation play-off after a 14 points apiece draw with Tyrone in Healy Park on Saturday night.
Tyrone had the better of the opening half and led seven points to four at half-time before Monaghan staged a huge come back in the third quarter.
Conor McManus, Stephen O’Halloran and Dessie Ward all sent over points within eight minutes of the restart to put Monaghan level.
Micheál Bannigan received a black card two minutes later but it didn’t stop Monaghan with a Conor McManus free and a Conor McCarthy point moving Monaghan two points ahead.
Tyrone struck back with three points from Ronan McNamee, Darragh Canavan and Frank Burns seeing the hosts lead 10 points to nine on 57th minute.
Frees from Jack McCarron and Rory Beggan saw Monaghan regain a one point lead with another McCarron free and a Stephen O’Hanlon point from play moving Monaghan ahead 13 points to 10 with eight minutes remaining.
Kieran McGeary pulled one back for the hosts with Jack McCarron receiving a black card with a minute of normal time remaining.
The black card spurred the hosts on with a point from play and one from a free by Conor McKenna moving Tyrone level.
Matthew Donnelly moved Tyrone ahead in eight minute of additional time but Ryan McAnespie ensured a draw with a point from play a minute later.
The draw see’s Tyrone advance to the semi-finals as group runner’s up behind Donegal.
Monaghan will now move into the relegation play-off’s and most likely face Galway as third place in division one south.
