Monaghan made it back-to-back Allianz League wins with an eight point victory over Westmeath.
High fielding with massive contests around the midfield; speedy inter-change of forward play, kick passes that unlocked defences, a range of scorers and long distance shooting.
Indeed, Westmeath shot into an early two point lead; before Monaghan rattled off five unanswered points including a two pointer from Rory Beggan and a David Garland mark.
Whereas, The visitors replied with a two pointer from the impressive Luke Loughlin to see the side’s level five points each in the opening quarter.
Four further points including a two pointer from Garland put the hosts ahead again. However, Westmeath spurned the first of a number of goal chances as Luke Loughlin nipped in on a short kick out from Rory Beggan but blazed his effort wide of the upright.
Indeed, Dermot McCabe's side raised a green flag when Ronan Wallace got on the end of a quick counter attack to bring the sides level on the half-hour mark.
However, Monaghan replied in stunning fashion as Conor McCarthy, David Garland and Michael Hamill all raised white flags.
Whereas, a glorious pin point pass from Ryan McAnespie released Ryan O'Toole who finished to the net. Monaghan leading 1-15 to 1-09 at the break.
Beggan lands two pointers
Westmeath shot out of the traps at the start of the second-half with fisted points from Brandon Kelly and Luke Loughlin either side of a goal from Robbie Forde.
The sides traded scorers before another 2 pointer from Beggan pushed it out to a four point game. From there the Farney controlled the tempo and scoreboard led brilliantly by Conor McCarthy.
The final moments were mixed emotions for manager Gabriel Bannigan. Michael Hamill was stretchered off with a knee injury but Jack McCarron finished to the back of the net to make it two wins from two.
Monaghan winning out 2-29 to 2-21.
