Monaghan suffered relegation back to the Lory Meagher cup after a 3-19 to 18 point defeat to Armagh.
But just fighting it a little bit tough on this competition, unfortunately not picking up any points during the course of this campaign. And it must be said, there is a marked step up.
Armagh took advantage of the stiff first-half breeze to lead 10 points to seven at half-time. However, Monaghan’s second-half hopes were short lived.
An Armagh effort fell short, Thomas Galvin latched onto it, putting the ball in the back of the net. Galvin followed that up with a point to make it 1-11 to 0-7.
However, Monaghan answered back with points from Niall Arthur and Declan Hughes Cues to bring it back to a four point game.
All eye's and were on the Louth and Donegal game with Monaghan needed a Louth victory to stay up.
Louth landed a goal in the early stages of the second-half and with Monaghan getting scores, the escape looked possible.
However, Armagh just pulling away Alex O'Boyle regining in points. O’Boyle land Armagh’s second goal of the game to make it 2-19 to 0-15.
Maybe the word came in from the side-line that Donegal had taken control of their encounter against Louth. Indeed, Monaghan where aware at that stage that no matter what happened, it was never going to fall in their favour.
Thomas Galvin had a second goal to his name to make it comfortable for Armagh 3-19 to 18 points. The result condemning Monaghan to the Lory Meagher Cup for 2025.
