Monaghan boss Vinny Corey has expressed disappointment at the scheduling of the All-Ireland championship.
The Farney opened the All-Ireland championship with a hard-fought 14-points apiece draw with Ulster champions Derry in Celtic Park.
While happy with his side efforts, Monaghan face Clare next week who have had a week’s rest between games. Clare having lost to Donegal by five points on May 20.
“It’s only a point on the board, but were at a disadvantage” explained Corey. “It’s a pity that all the games didn’t start at the same time in the league”.
“Some teams have an advantage next weekend and Clare is that team” declared Corey. “They’ve had two weeks just to concentrate slowly on us.”
“That was a tough game away from home”. The “boys won’t be home until 11.30, 12 O’clock tonight and have to repeat the performance next week”.
“A wee bit of a disadvantage, but we’ll dust ourselves down and get the boys re-energized and back at it”.

Clare very much in the hunt
While many have seen Clare as an outsider in group four having lost to Donegal in their opener, Corey isn’t of the belief.
“I’ve seen a bit of them in different games” revealed the Monaghan boss. “There a decent outfit!”
Clare “had Dublin beat in Croke Park earlier this year, they only lost by a point. They had Kildare beat, they only lost by a point”.
“They knocked Cork out of the championship this year, they knocked Roscommon out last year in Croke Park”.
“They've lost last weekend, so there already thinking this is a game, we can beat Monaghan, this is a game we can win” declared Corey.
“We have to dust ourselves down” Corey repeated. “Clare have an advantage in some regard, but it’s a home game for us, so you have to take the positives”.
