The Monaghan ladies footballers picked up their first win in Lidl ladies football league division two beating Tyrone 1-12 to 2-4 at Clones.
The sides were tied at 2-3 to 0-9 midway through the second before Amy Garland's goal helped Monaghan to a three-point victory in the end.
No such joy for Cavan however, Gerry Moane’s side suffered a 3-13 to ten points defeat at the hands of Tipperary at Fethard.
The result leaves Cavan bottom of the second tier on points difference with two defeats from as many games so far while Monaghan occupy sixth place.
Next up for Cavan is a meeting with Westmeath in round three in seven days’ time while the Farney women will take on leaders Armagh.
