It is been reported by some outlets that Mickey Graham is set to be named as part of the Galway management team over the coming days. The Ulster winning manager with Cavan had been installed as Leitrim's number 1 back at end of summer but in recent weeks stepped down from that role citing "Circumstances beyond his control". It is now believed he will make the move to last years All Ireland runners up having worked alongside Padraic Joyce as part of the Connacht management for the recent inter-pro series. Those provincial fixtures last weekend were showcasing the proposed new rules for GAA football which will be brought forward by the Fixtures review committee to special congress at the end of next month.
One of the proposed changes will see the introduction of a scoring arc 40 metres out from the goals with any score outside of it worth 2 points. It is one that has caused some debate among both spectators and players as to whither it is required or not and if it will skew the scoreboard. Former Monaghan player Dessie Mone was an interested spectator in Croke Park in Saturday evening and he believes it will bring back one of the more popular skills of the game
