Cavan lose second game in a row

Cavan slumped to their second league defeat of the season as Meath scored a 10-point win in the derby.

It was a first league win of the season for Meath seeing off neighbours Cavan 3-21 to 0-20 in Pairc Tailteann.

The Royals led eight points to five after 17 minutes when Meath found the net. Ronan Jones firing into an empty net from long range.

The hosts went onto lead 1-12 to 0-8 lead at half-time.

Cavan introduced returning veteran Gearoid McKiernan to the fray for the second-half. McKiernan kicked a pair of two pointers late-on, it was Meath’s day.

Jones found the net for the second time on 57 minutes to give the Royals a 10-point lead. Jordan Morris sealed the host’s victory four minutes later with Meath’s third goal.

Cavan will look for their first points of the season at home to Louth on February 16th. Louth lost out by two points to Roscommon in Drogheda today.
