Clontibret booked a place in the Monaghan senior football final after a two point win over Ballybay Pearse brothers.
Ballybay led 1-5 to eight points at half-time before Clontibret came back to win 1-9 to 14 points.
Clontibret recalled Conor McManus but it was Ballybay who started brighter. Christoper McGuinness opening the scoring with a point in the first minute.
McGuinness converting a penalty four minutes later to open a four point lead. Dean McDonnell sent over Clontibret’s first point in response. However Thomas Kerr’s point restored the lead after 10 minutes.
Colm Lennon made it a five point game with Aaron Carey responding for Clontibret. A 15th minute McManus free and Brian Greenan’s point from play made it a two point game.
Michael Hannon fired over a point on 20 minutes with Conor Boyle registering a mark two minutes later. A mark from McManus made it a one point game, six minutes before full-time.
Julius Sniauksta restored the two point lead with Darragh Hughes making it 1-5 to 0-7 at half-time.
Conor McManus levelled the game two minutes after the restart with a free. Ryan Wylie restored Ballybay’s lead three minutes later.
McManus levelled with a free. However, McGuinness from play pushed Ballybay back in front on 44 minutes. Killian Lavelle’s point from play levelled the game on three-quarter time. 1-7 to 0-10.
Eoin McKearney pushed Ballybay back in front with a Thomas Kerr 45 putting Ballybay two clear with nine minutes to play. Alas, it was Ballybay’s last point of the game.
Brian Greenan, Darren McDonnell (f) and a McManus free had Clontibret ahead on 60 minutes. Another McManus free two minutes into injury time sent Clontibret into the final.
