Scotstown reached the semi-finals of the Greenfield Foods Monaghan Senior Football Championship beating Castleblayney Faughs by 1-13 to 13 points.
Francis Maguire made a brief appearance as a blood substitute in the first half and his goal proved decisive in the end before being re-introduced in the second period where he was excellent.
Scotstown finished the game with 14 men which is merely a tiny dot on a very pretty picture as Colin McAree’s side advanced to the last four without dropping a single point.
Meanwhile, Truagh moved up to second place in group two after beating Carrickmacross by 1-10 to 12 points.
A goal from a penalty by Christopher McKenna separated the sides at the interval as Truagh led the home side by 1-5 to five points.
Carrickmacross fought back in the second half and levelled the game with a minute of normal time left before wing-back James McKenna scored the winning point in dramatic fashion.
