The atttention on the motorsport front this weekend will return back to the National Night navigation championship with the Skibbereen and District Car club hosting the 5th round of the championship with the 100 Isles trial. Competing crews are set to face an 80 mile event set in the South of Cork with Head Quarters at the O'Donovan Rossa GAA club in Skibbereen. Cork navigator Denis O' Donovan will be looking to score his 4th win in his home county and extend his lead in the championship.
On the World Rally front, round 2 of the championship takes the crews to Sweden and more importantly the snow. Getting underway this evening (Thursday) the event will be a first WRC outing in 2023 for Irish man Craig Breen with Cavan navigator James Fulton as they take up their seat in the Hyundai I20. It will also be a World championship debut for the British Junior champions Eamon Kelly and his Monaghan navigator Conor Mohan as they compete in their Ford Fiesta in the WRC3 category. While Conor has amassed a lot of experience navigating in Ireland and Britain he admitted it was another step up to be going to the World level
Other Irish entrants include Aaron Johnston calling the notes for Takamoto Katsuta in the Toyota Yaris while William Creighton and Liam Regan will be competing in WRC3 in their Ford fiesta.
