Stranoodan men, Shane and Ciaran Maguire finished 1 st overall in the Monaghan Motorclub Endurance Trial which took place last Sunday. The brother duo had a 2m 31s advantage over 2nd placed Andrew Wedlock and Ryan Treanor. 3 rd place OA went to Graham O’Donoghue/Paul Reilly. Garry Farrelly assisted by Michael Sheridan and Sam Patterson organised this year’s event with was based out of Aughnamullen GAA. The event was a counting round of the Motorsport Ireland National Endurance Trial Championship. Sixteen selectives awaited competitors on the day. Eight before and after a lunch/fuel stop which was at Watters Londis in Castleblaney. In the classes, Karl O’Donoghue/Kevin Fagan were 1 st in class A2M with Ted Gaffney/Damien Quinn finishing 2nd . Noel Devlin/Deirdre Gallagher were 1st in class A2S and Michael Connolly/Eoghán Farrell were 1st in class A2N. In class A2B, Darragh Mullen/Aideen Lynch were 1st , Mickey Conlon/ Domhnall Lennon were 2nd and Becky Hollinshed/Lauren Kennedy were 3rd. In class B, Shane Burns/Dave Ray were 1st , Geoffrey Conboy/Joey Finneran were 2nd and David Forde/Patrick O’Leary finished 3rd . Sean and Caolain McCaffrey finished 5 th in the class. Martin Tynan/David McCrudden finished 1st in class C. In fact, Martin andDavid were the fastest crew over the entire day but as class C is for cars that don’t conform to the endurance specification, they were ineligible to finish in
the top three overall. Aaron McGorman/Darren Lavery were 2nd in the class and Michael Carbin/Conor Mohan finished 3rd. Martin and Gretchen Swinburne finished 4th in the class, Shane and Molly Maguire finished 5 h , Mickey McNelis/Peter Farrell finished 6th Cathal and Dara McGlone finished 7th , Elijah and Isaiah Dixon finished 8th . Bob Grahan/Caolan Treanor finished in 9th. Matthew McKenna/Ryan McDaid finished 10 th and Francis McElvaney/Ella Gillanders finished 11 th in the highly competitive class. Laoise Shiel/Padraic Shiel were 1st in class D, Andrew Mackarel/Richard Cassidy were 1 st in class E and Ciaran McGorman/Róisín McGorman were 1st in class F
After the event, Garry thanked all the competitors and marshals for their help and support and the land owners for giving permission for the event to use their property as without their help and support the event couldn’t run. The next round for the Endurance Championship will be, Westmeath Motor Club’s Endurance Trial on August 18 th .
