Magheracloone claimed the Monaghan intermediate title with a five point victory over Truagh in Inniskeen.
Michael Metzer landed 0-9 (4f, 1m), as Magheracloone claimed a five point victory to land the intermediate title.
The sides were level 1-4 to seven points at half-time. Michael Metzer putting Magheracloone ahead inside two minutes. Christopher McKenna responding with a 45 60 seconds later.
A Metzer free restored Magheracloone’s lead two minutes later. McKenna levelled the game again with a free. Another McKenna free had Truagh ahead on eight minutes.
Magheracloone were level on 13 minutes as Metzer converted a mark. A second McKenna 45 restored Truagh’s lead the quarter-hour mark.
Kian Duffy from play equalised for Magheracloone before Jack Doogan moved Magheracloone five points to four ahead, 10 minutes before half-time.
Metzer’s second free of the day, increased the lead to two, six minutes before half-time. Metzer added his second from play to make it a three point game five minutes later.
Truagh weren’t done though. A Christopher McKenna goal saw the sides go in level at half-time, 1-4 to seven points.
Another Metzer free and Doogan from play had the Mitchell’s two clear seven minutes into the second-half. Paudie McKenna pulled back a point in response.
Frees from Aallan Kieran and Oran McElligot had just one between the sides with 10 minutes remaining. Points from Paudie McMahon and Adam McKeown had Mitchells three clear with eight minutes remaining.
Metzer's big finish
Metzer’s third free of the day made it a four point game, 13 points to 1-6. Another Metzer point this time from play and another free made it a six point game.
Ryan Boyle pulled one back for Truagh, but it was Magheracloone’s title as they won out 15 points to 1-7.
