Clontibret O’Neill’s and Magheracloone proved inseparable in group one of the Greenfield Foods Monaghan Senior Football Championship today finishing 13 points apiece.
Magheracloone held a two-point buffer at the half-way stage leading by nine points to seven but an improved second half from the reigning champions resulted in a stalemate.
Clontibret are still looking for their first victory of the campaign and will look to put that right in the next round against Donaghmoyne.
Elsewhere, Ballybay went top of the group with a 4-20 to eight points win over Donaghmoyne.
Christopher McGuinness, Colm Lennon, Darragh Drury and Shane McGuinness all found the net giving Ballybay their second win from three games.
The result was never in doubt as Colin Malone’s side led 3-12 to two points at the interval.
