Continuing with our feature piece, “Sporting life during Covid”, we hear from the bowls community. Again they are a sporting organisation who have had to completely curtail their activities in line with the Pandemic restrictions. Not only played at a competitive level, the rolling out of mats around numerous country community halls and centres is a major social occasion for many of its members. Paddy Mc Elvaney is a member of the Monaghan Zone Short mat Bowls club who has not only competed at a local level but has also travelled the length and breadth of the country as well as to England and across Europe to compete.
He spoke to Sean Mc Caffrey and recalled how the sport came to halt when the initial lock down was announced
