Leona Maguire is six shots off the lead at the half-way stage of the KPMG women’s Irish open.
Maguire shot a one-under par 72 to move to four-under par for the tournament. Maguire opened with a birdie on the par-five first.
A bogey on five and a birdie on nine saw Maguire make the turn on one-under-par. However, A bogey on 11 was cancelled out by a birdie on 12.
However, The Cavan woman is well placed to become the first Irish winner of the Irish open. Whereas, Maguire is six shots adrift of the clubhouse leader Ursula Wikstrom, who shot a 68 today at Carton House.
A 71 leaves Anna Abom on three-under par and expected to make the cut. Whereas, Lauren Walsh (+1), Kate Dillon (+1), Roisin Scanlon (+2), Anna Foster (+2), Emma Fleming (+5), Aideen Walsh (+7), Canice Screene (+7) and Kate Lanigan (+8) are set to miss the cut.
2024 is the 18th edition of the Women’s Irish Open which was first held in 1994. An Irish player has never finished in the top two in the tournaments history.
