Leona Maguire looks for big finish in Califorina

Leona Maguire is six shots off the lead but tied for ninth place heading into the weekend at the JTBC Classic in Carlsbad, Califorina.

Maguire shot a second round 70 to move to five under-par. Hanna Koerstz Madsen hold the lead on 11 under-par.

The Cavan woman shot birdies at the first and par five fifth. However a double bogey at the par five 10^th lost Maguire’s rhythm.

Maguire pulled back a birdie at the par three 14 before shooting a bogey at 15. Birdies at the par five 17^th and on at 18 saw Maguire finish two-under for the round.

Six shots off the lead Maguire tee’s off from joint ninth place just after 5pm Irish time.
