The Allianz Football league finals were granted reprieve at a Central Council meeting while the All-Ireland finals have been deferred until the end of July.
The GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee asked for the league finals to be disbanded due to time constraints but the motion failed to receive approval from the Council.
As a result, some lower division counties who reach their respective league final could be out in provincial championship action a week later.
The All-Ireland senior football final has been deferred until July 30th, a week after the senior hurling decider. Hence, the inter-county window has increased by a week.
League finals in both codes are scheduled for the first weekend in April while the Leinster and Munster hurling finals will be held on the same day; Sunday, June 11th.
Elsewhere, the Joe McDonagh Cup final (hurling) will be played as part of a double bill with the All-Ireland under-20 hurling final in late May.
It was also decided to hold the GAA’s Annual Congress on February, 18th, seven days earlier than originally planned and intercounty training will resume from November 25th.
