Lavey registered their first win of the Cavan championship with a two point victory over Laragh United.
There was drama plenty early on as Lavey led 1-4 to 1-1 at half-time. Jack McKenna have landed the first score of the game with an 11th minute goal. That proved to be Laragh’s final score of the half.
A Peter Smith 45 had Laragh’s first score of the game two minutes later before James McBreen landed a goal for Lavey on 16 minutes. Lavey led by three points at half-time.
It would take 16 second-half minutes for the next score to arrive through Lavey’s Callum Maguire.
Laragh final woke up with the first score in 36 minutes coming from a James Smith free. Paul Smith, Niall Fitzpatrick added points to make it a one point game.
However, Shane Tierney and Gerard Smith sent over points to move Lavey three points clear. Callum Maguire and Jake Mills exchanged points with four minutes remaining.
Paul Smith made it a two point game in the 60th minute with Finn Buckley putting a goal between the games in the second minute of injury time.
Lavey finished with 14 men when Jack Breen received a black card. However Jack McKenna’s pointed free was the game’s final score as Lavey won out 1-9 to 1-7.
