Liam McDonald’s stoppage-time goal saw Donaghmoyne open their Monaghan SFC campaign with a 2-12 to 1-13 victory away to Clontribret.
The opening stages were evenly contested before Donaghmoyne gained the upper hand. Declan Courtney’s goal on 23 minutes helped the visitors lead 1-6 to 0-7 at half-time.
Seven minutes into the second half, Clontibret led by a solitary point when Conor McManus scored a penalty goal and the hosts subsequently moved three points clear heading into injury time.
Donaghmoyne responded by hitting 1-2 in injury time; Liam McDonald scoring 1-1 while Davy Garland was also on target.
